Introduced in 1968, the 300 SEL 6.3 stands as one of the most audacious sedans of its era.
An elegant, understated body concealed the now legendary 6.3-liter "M100 V8" that Mercedes-Benz engineers had originally developed for the flagship 600 "Grosser." In the 300 SEL, it was capable of reaching 100 km/h in around seven seconds and topping out near 220 km/h.
It was the world's fastest sedan at the time of its debut, quicker in a straight line than even the Porsche 911 S.
The result was a car that could carry four passengers in supreme luxury while outrunning contemporary sports cars.
This combination earned it near-instant status as the ultimate 'sleeper' sedan of the 1960s and one of the forebears of the modern super sedan.
This SEL 6.3 is the subject of a comprehensive restoration and now presents in striking Black over a Red leather interior.
