Borrowing technology from the revolutionary 959 supercar, the 993 generation of Porsche's venerable 911 would simultaneously mark the first 911 Turbo to feature all-wheel drive and the last with an air-cooled engine.

Offering a twenty-percent improvement in torsional strength under acceleration over its rear-wheel drive predecessor thanks to the new all-wheel drive, 0-97 km/h would take just 3.2 seconds.

With widened rear wheel arches and fixed "whale tail" rear wing housing the intercoolers, the 993 Turbo offered attractive, yet purposeful exterior styling.
