Conceived to rival the Ferrari 250 GT at the height of the grand touring era, the Maserati 3500 GT emerged as an elegant 2+2 sports coupé powered by a 3.5-liter inline six-cylinder engine, fed by three Weber 42 DCOE carburetors.

Developing 220 cavalli vapore (horsepower), it carried the car to a top speed of 220 km/h.



The Spyder, its convertibile iteration, produced in only 242 examples and dressed by the eminent Giovanni Michelotti for Carrozzeria Vignale, was officially unveiled in October 1960, at the 1960 Paris Motor Show before entering production in 1961.



Completed in May 1960, as confirmed by Maserati Classiche, this Spyder numbers among the earliest produced, preceding full-scale industrial production by several months.

Delivered new to a company in Turin, Italy, the capital of Piedmont and a historic center of Italian automobile manufacturing, it was specified in the particularly refined combination of Grigio Scuro Metal...
