Founded in 1959 by Hungarian-born, Canada-based husband and wife team Frank and Paula Reisner, Intermeccanica was international in spirit from the outset.

After relocating to Turin and evolving into Costruzione Automobili Intermeccanica, the company evolved from producing performance components for European marques such as Fiat, Peugeot, and Renault, into its own low-volume sports car manufacturer.

That ambition culminated in the Intermeccanica Italia, a sleek grand tourer introduced in 1966 that blended sophisticated European engineering and American power and torque.

Originally commissioned by Jack Griffith as the Griffith 600, the project ultimately found its footing under Intermeccanica's stewardship, where it matured into the firm's defining model.

The Italia was originally crafted with input from noted Formula One and IndyCar chassis designer John Crosthwaite and styled by Robert Cumberford, but its lines were later refined by renowned Bertone designe...
