To give the Pininfarina Cabriolet the performance to match its Ferrari-inspired looks, Fiat paired the new 1959 1500 S with an OSCA-built, twin-cam 1.5-liter engine derived from the Maserati brothers' competition experience.
Assembled by Pininfarina yet sold and badged as a Fiat, the OSCA-powered Cabriolets remained a rare offering, with period estimates suggesting that just 3,089 twin-cam examples were produced among 34,211 Cabriolets and Coupes built from 1959–1966.
