This 1951 Aston Martin DB2 is among approximately 250 examples of the DB2 platform built with power from an uprated 2,580cc Lagonda inline-six that was the first engine to carry the company’s “Vantage” nomenclature.

Chassis LML/50/65 was purchased new by the Honorable Sir Max Aitken, son of Lord Beaverbrook, as well as a newspaper heir and English fighter pilot credited with the destruction of 16 enemy aircraft during World War II, en route to being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Distinguished Service Order.

Repairs during the car’s first nine years are documented in factory service logs and include work on the engine and running gear as well as the addition of disc wheels supplied by the first owner.
