Condition
7
The car has undergone significant refurbishment, including a repaint, rebuilt top, and redone interior. However, the description notes that panel gaps are due to a lack of final adjustment, seals are settling, the heater control knobs are not working, and heat/defrost are non-functional. Additionally, there is an undiagnosed parasitic draw requiring a kill switch. These issues prevent a higher rating.

This 1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible was acquired by the current owner in 2021 out of an estate, and a claimed ~$35k was subsequently spent on refurbishment, rebuilding, and customizing the car.
The body was stripped and repainted, and the top was rebuilt with a powder-coated frame, replacement hardware, and a heated glass rear window.
The interior was redone with red leather upholstery and custom embroidery, and a JVC sound system was installed along with a chromed shifter.
The selling dealer tells us the suspension, wiring, and brakes were also overhauled, and the car rides on 15″ 914-style alloy wheels and has front disc brakes.
Its air-cooled 1.6L flat-four is paired with a four-speed manual transaxle.
