AI Listing Summary
This 1953 Porsche 356 Pre-A 'bent-window' coupe has undergone a significant refurbishment, including a repaint in Ivory, a red leather interior re-trim, and mechanical overhauls of its replacement 1.6L flat-four engine and four-speed manual transaxle. While the car presents well after extensive work, minor cosmetic flaws like hood chips and a non-functional radio indicate it's not pristine but still a well-maintained classic.

The car underwent a refurbishment in 2010, including a repaint, interior re-trim, and overhauls of the engine, transaxle, brakes, and steering. However, there are chips in the hood's leading edge, and the Telefunken radio does not work, indicating some minor wear and tear despite the refurbishment.

This 1953 Porsche 356 is a Pre-A “bent-window” coupe that left the factory on March 20, 1953, and was distributed to the US via Max Hoffman in New York.
The car is said to have been purchased in 1972 by a former aircraft mechanic in California who drove it for several decades before placing it in storage and then beginning a refurbishment in 2010.
The project included a repaint in Ivory, a re-trim of the interior in red leather, and overhauls of the replacement 1,582cc flat-four and Type 644 four-speed manual transaxle.
The hydraulic drum brakes were also refreshed in addition to the steering box, electrical system, carburetors, and fuel tank.
This Pre-A coupe was acquired by its current owner in 2023 and is now offered on dealer consignment in St.
