This 1971 AMC Javelin SST is believed to have been used as an experimental vehicle to test engines for NASCAR before the 1971 season, and the 401ci V8 and A727 three-speed automatic transmission are said to have been assembled by the Penske racing program and later by Roy Woods Racing.
