Condition

7

The listing mentions that the fire engine underwent a refurbishment approximately five years ago, which included paintwork on the wheels and various areas of the frame, and also notes the presence of solid rubber tires. This suggests that it is in overall solid condition, but with some slight wear visible on the paint, interior, or wheels. It could use some minor reconditioning to bring it to excellent condition.

This 1904 American LaFrance fire engine is a second-size Metropolitan equine-drawn steam pumper wagon that is said to have been constructed for the Greensboro Fire Department in North Carolina.

The wagon is said to have remained in service with the fire department through the 1920s before seeing use as a reserve engine through the 1930s.

It was then purchased by a Winston-Salem owner who used it in parades for several years before selling it to a Florida owner in 1951.

It subsequently spent time on display at the Hialeah Fire Engine Museum and then the O’Meara Fire Engine Museum at Blowing Rock, North Carolina, before being purchased in 1970 by an owner who is said to have commissioned a refurbishment the following year.
