This 1962 Maserati 3500 GTi was completed in February 1962 before being sold new to an engineer in Milan, Italy, where it was first registered in 1964.

Chassis 2078 had made its way to the US by the late 1990s, and in the 2002 was purchased by its current owner, racing driver and author Rich Taylor, who had it fitted with a Chevrolet V8 and a Tremec transmission before using it for participation in various rallies and concours events.

A refurbishment performed between 2016 and 2019 included the overhaul and reinstallation of the removed 3,485cc DOHC inline-six with an updated replacement Lucas fuel injection system, an overhaul of the ZF five-speed manual transmission, and a repaint in Rosso Exotico.
