The car is said to have been purchased new by a Binghamton, New York, doctor who collected it in Europe before importing it to the US, where it was purchased by the seller’s former boss from a Syracuse dealership in 1961.

After being disassembled and placed in storage, the car was purchased by the seller as a project accompanied by a collection of parts in 1964.
