This 1953 Porsche 356 is one of the final convertibles built by Gläser Karosserie in Weiden, Germany, before being returned to Reutter in Stuttgart for completion when bankruptcy forced Gläser to abandon production in November 1952.

Chassis 12375 was delivered new in Los Angeles in early 1953 and was purchased in 1954 by a Volkswagen specialist who raced it through the 1950s before storing it on his Southern California property through much of his 64-year ownership.
