This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500KR is one of 267 “King of the Road” convertibles produced with a four-speed manual transmission.
It was built on July 25, 1968, at Ford’s Metuchen, New Jersey, assembly plant and was delivered new to Herff Ford of Memphis, Tennessee.
It spent several decades in Louisiana and was reportedly purchased by Shelby American Automobile Club (SAAC) registrar Dave Mathews in the 1990s before a refurbishment was completed in 1997.
The car is finished in Wimbledon White with blue stripes over black vinyl upholstery, and power comes from a 428ci Cobra Jet V8.
Additional features include a 3.00:1 Traction-Lok differential, a power-operated black soft top, power-assisted steering and front disc brakes, the Interior Décor and Visibility Groups, a SelectAire air-conditioning system, a tilt-away steering column, and an AM/FM radio.
