This 1959 Alfa Romeo Giulietta was completed on December 19, 1959 as the first of approximately 213 Sprint Zagato coupes built during a three-year production span.
Chassis 00001 is said to have represented the model as a prototype at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1960 before being prepared for sale and delivered to Scuderia Sant’Ambroeus in Milan, Italy.
The car then won its class at the Naples Grand Prix piloted by eventual Italian GT title winner Sergio Pedretti under the alias “Kim,” and continued to compete until the late 1960s before being acquired by two Bolognese owners and an enthusiast in northern Italy.
Following that owner’s passing in 1989 the car was transferred to his heirs, with whom it has remained since.
Finished in red over black, it is powered by a numbers-matching 1,290cc DOHC inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
