This 1959 BMC Formula Junior was the initial prototype for a run of 25 produced by Joe Huffaker for Kjell Qvale of British Motor Cars in San Fransisco.
Chassis #XP001 was initially used for testing, and remained with Huffaker following his departure from BMC.
Huffaker restored the car in 2008 with assistance from his son and grandson, and Dan Marvin drove it to a class win at the 2008 Monterey Historics.
The seller participated in about 30 races following his purchase in 2012, including appearances at Monterey.
Power is provided by a 1,098cc inline-four mated to a four-speed manual gearbox, and the car received a $27k refresh by Huffaker Engineering in 2018.
