Originally supplied for Dutch military service, it was imported into the UK and registered here in 1994, having previously been sold by well-known military vehicle specialists Jacksons of Doncaster.The M38A1 was the military development of the Jeep and introduced the distinctive rounded bonnet and wings later seen on the civilian CJ-5.

Dutch-built and assembled examples were produced for the Royal Netherlands Army through the 1950s and early 1960s.The vehicle retains its military-style specification, including olive drab finish, canvas hood, military seating and equipment.
