Supplied new by Triumph dealer F Mitchell of Nottingham in March 1974 to a local gent named Mr S Billiam, the Passport to Service book shows 13 stamps up to April 1978 by which time it had covered 42,805 miles (see photos).

In 1987 when it had covered 78,150 miles, it was acquired by a Mr J Lilley of Solihull who treated the car to a total nut-and-bolt restoration including a bare metal repaint and a rebuilt engine and gearbox.

A member of the Stag Owner’s Club, he kept the car until 1994 when it was acquired by a Mr Arnott of Solihull who was to keep it for the next 22 years.
