From a deceased estate; just two owners from new, the current for 48 years; good running order; sale proceeds being donated to The British Heart Foundation Launched in 1963, the Rover 2000 P6 was an extremely radical design for its time and positively bristled with technical innovations.

In fact it was so well received that it won the inaugural European Car of the Year award in 1964.

Initially only available with a 1,987cc inline-four engine featuring an overhead camshaft, a single SU carb and a ‘Heron’ head design where the combustion chambers were cast into the piston crowns, it produced 104bhp.

Driving through a four-speed manual gearbox, this made it good for a top speed of 110mph.When a 124bhp twin carb version came out, the SC designation (Single Carburettor) was added to distinguish it from the slightly more powerful TC version.

Built like the Citroën DS, the P6 used a structural monocoque base unit with non-stressed, bolt-on outer body panels.
