Vehicle Details
AI Listing Summary
This 1979/80 Australian-import Ford Escort RS2000 is a desirable 'Fast Ford' featuring numerous tasteful modifications, including a 5-speed gearbox and electric power steering. While presented as a fabulous example with solid bodywork, it does exhibit minor cosmetic flaws like microblistering and has a single advisory on its MOT, indicating it requires some attention.
Condition
7
The car is described as 'rock-solid' with mostly original bodywork due to its Australian import history. However, there are minor cosmetic issues noted, such as traces of microblistering on the roof and small repairs to the suspension mounting and spare wheel well. Mechanically, it's in good running order with recent upgrades, but a minor advisory on the MOT for shock absorber misting suggests some wear.

Unlike the Mk1 Escort which was developed by Ford of Britain, the Mk2 was a more sophisticated car that was jointly developed with Ford Germany.
Based on a standard Mk2 two-door saloon shell, the RS2000 used the familiar 2-litre Pinto engine driving the rear wheels via a 4-speed gearbox.
Using a twin-choke Weber carb it was good for 110mph with the 0-60mph dash taking 8.5 seconds.
