Description New Rover bodyshell; last of the 1275cc carburettor fuelled 1275cc A-Series engines; a much loved member of the family The carburettor-fed Mini Cooper, introduced in 1990 following the limited-run RSP, re-established the Cooper badge after nearly two decades.
Powered by the lively 1275cc A-Series engine with SU carburettor, it produced 59 bhp and delivered the classic Mini driving experience – nimble, responsive and full of character.
Distinctive bonnet stripes, contrasting roof colours and sporty trim made it instantly recognisable, while the carburettor setup gave it a raw, mechanical charm later lost to injection.
Produced only until late 1991, these early Coopers are prized today for their rarity and authentic period feel.
First registered in July 1991 and showing only four former keepers, the current owner purchased the car in 1997 from the well-known mini specialist Miniman in Leamington Spa.
