AI Listing Summary

This 1929 Austin 12, owned since 1978, is a largely original vintage saloon that has been stored for a number of years. While it's a non-runner, the engine turns, and it could be an ideal entry into vintage motoring after some recommissioning.

Condition

4

The car is described as a non-runner that needs light recommissioning. It carries the expected patina and 'oily rag' look of a 1929 car, and while some work has been done, it has not been used much in the last five years. The car has cosmetic issues and requires reconditioning.

Description Genuine and largely original vintage saloon; owned by our vendor since 1978; will need some light recommissioning This mighty Austin 12 was first registered in March 1929 and although being offered here as a non runner it surely would not take a lot of work to get back on the road.

Registered as VE 705, it was first purchased by our vendor in 1978.

Used regularly in the 80s for local rallies, visits to the pub and even a 2,000 mile round trip to Holland in 1983, it started to be used sparingly in the 90s, when our vendor moved to London and the family grew! Although occasionally used, it was mostly garaged and re-introduced to the road between 2011 and 2019 after a cracked con rod and kingpins were replaced.

While being stored with a restorer in Wales, further work included the renewal of the magneto, carburetor, autovac, and a thorough going over of the engine.

All inner tubes were also replaced.

After being driven about 200 miles, it was reported to be driving ‘well’...
