Introduced in 1984, the Michelotti-styled Scimitar SS1 was powered by various Ford CVH inline-four engines, with the 1.6L version delivering 95bhp.

In 1986 the SS1 received a performance boost with the introduction of the 1.8L turbocharged Nissan CA18ET engine, known as the 1800Ti.

This engine produced 135bhp, enabling the SS1 to sprint to 60mph in 6.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 125mph.? With light weight and turbo torque, the 1800Ti is surprisingly quick for its era.

It feels nimble and responsive, and while the interior is basic it delivers a raw and engaging drive, giving a glorious turbo lag boost style of performance.
