Description One-family-owned from new; always garaged; only 55k miles with 8 service stamps; new tyres and cam belt; original purchase invoice; totally original and in super condition throughout Porsche introduced the 944 in 1982, using the 924 as a starting point but radically improving the car in many areas.
This included ditching the old VW engine and replacing it with a new 2.5-litre straight-four that was effectively half of the 5.0-litre V8 in the 928 supercar.
Producing 163bhp and with bags of torque, it could propel the 944 to 137mph.
In mid-1985 the 944 underwent its first significant changes, including a new oval dash and door panels, upgraded alternator, increased oil sump capacity, new front and rear cast alloy control and semi-trailing arms, larger fuel tank, powered seats and revisions to the transaxle mountings to reduce noise and vibration.
The ‘Cookie Cutter' wheels used in the early 944s were upgraded to new ‘Phone Dial' style alloys.
