Description AMMENDMENT; Impressive condition; running well and sounding sweet; just 41,791 miles indicated Please note headlights are sealed-beam and not halogen as previously cataglogued Launched in 1955, the Ford Squire was a two-door estate version of the compact Thames 300E panel van which was in turn based on the Anglia/Prefect 100E four-door saloon.

The Squire’s tailgate was in two pieces split horizontally and the rear seat could be folded flat to convert it from a four-seater to a useful load carrier.

It was powered by Ford’s trusty 36bhp 1,172cc sidevalve engine which gave it a top speed of 70mph.

An almost identical Ford Escort version was also available which had the lower trim level of the Anglia.

This was slightly cheaper than the Squire and proved more popular, remaining in production until 1961 (two years longer than the Squire) by which time 33,131 Escorts had been sold.

First registered in St Helens in May 1961, this Escort estate must be one of the last made.
