Description Believed to have been originally manufactured in 1948 and registered in January '49; original chassis, bulkhead and running gear; PTO; a very impressive example that was fully restored in 2018 Presented here is one of the very early Series Land Rovers.
Some of the features from 1948 can be seen although the build date is officially recorded on the Heritage Certificate as 8 th January 1949.
Despatched on 18 th January to Henlys Ltd, London, it is wearing the Essex registered number OEV 702, which according to official records was released the following day on the 19 th and was described as a Rover.
Possibly the original number to the car although the Series 1 Register record this as being first applied to R861761 in July 1988.
Quite likely it was off the road for some time and then re-registered with its original number.
There are no details of its early life, but it was completely restored in 2018 by well-known Land Rover specialist Ben Stowe of Black Paw 4x4.
