By the 2000s the van was showing the typical Mini rust and mechanical problems, so a decision was made to take it off the road and start a full restoration.

In the typical car enthusiast fashion, the restoration developed into a full blown rebuild with some mechanical and visual modifications on the way.

Although there are no invoices we are told that in the restoration all areas of rust were removed and replaced with new panels, a total overhaul of the braking system took place including new front callipers and a new brake master cylinder, the old engine was replaced with the later 1,275cc unit, a complete stainless exhaust system was fitted and a new, later model chrome and front grille, 4 new superlight alloy wheels and tyres, new high intensity headlights and 2 rather nice...
