Description Uprated with fully rebuilt Ford 1500GT engine and gearbox and only 11k miles since; new tyres, clutch, servo brakes and stainless steel exhaust; few owners; large history file from new Ford introduced the Anglia 105E as a saloon in 1959 with its distinctive backward-slanted rear windscreen, an Estate version becoming available in 1961.
Both were powered by a 997cc OHV four-cylinder engine mated to a four-speed manual gearbox.
Standard versions had a narrow painted front grille and the Deluxe versions (as here) had a wider chrome grille.
The 105E remained in production until 1967, becoming Ford’s most successful British car until it was overshadowed by the all-conquering Cortina.
This Anglia Estate was supplied new by Ford agent Chiswick Garage of London in June 1965, to a Mr JG Herbert who was to keep it until 1988.
