Description A rare car in a great spec; use and improve; current owner 10 years; restoration work in 1998 Ford were absolute masters at up-selling their range by adding clever touches which really enhanced the cars.

Badged accordingly so that your neighbour could smell your success, they sold like hot-cakes, although in the case of the cars from the '70s, the ravages of time and multiple owners have significantly reduced the number of survivors.

This rare GT XL is the perfect example, fitted with a vinyl roof, fancy wheels, wood trim, a well-stacked dash and badging to match.

The owner acquired it in 2013, the car having had considerable restoration works in 1998, which included some bodywork, a new vinyl roof and a 1600GT engine which has an unleaded head, Kent cam, balancing and new bearings.

It looks to have covered some 30,000 miles since.

The V5C shows just six previous keepers.

When acquired, it had a few electical issues which were sorted and electronic ignition was added....
