Under the bonnet, we find the 1.6-litre D16A9 four-cylinder DOHC engine which develops 125bhp at 6800rpm and 143NM of torque courtesy of the high-revving (non-VTEC) nature of the engine driving the front wheels via five-speed manual transmission.
This model is easily identifiable by the raised off-centre bonnet bulge which gave clearance for the taller block of the DOHC 1.6 litre engine.
