AI Listing Summary
This 1962 Ford Consul Classic, a rare four-door model, stands out with its quirky design and recent refurbishments, including a 2015 interior retrim and a 2019 fuel system overhaul. While it presents nicely and drives well, its rarity and classic appeal contribute to its value, offset by its controversial styling that led to low sales when new.

Condition
6
While the car presents well and is described as driving well, it has had a fuel system overhaul and interior retrim, suggesting some level of wear and tear. The presence of old MOTs and the vendor's acquisition for collection purposes further indicate it is not in pristine condition. No mention of mechanical issues so I can assume that is a positive.

The car had front disc brakes with independent front suspension using Macpherson strut units and at the rear the live axle used semi elliptic leaf springs.
A contemporary road tester was impressed, noting that "probably the most impressive thing about the Classic is its road holding".
It also had an exceptionally large boot with a high-lift sprung lid that made it an ideal car for family holidays.
Despite a top speed of 80mph and 35mpg economy, it was a slow seller by Ford standards, mainly due to its controversial styling and ...
