This car was owned by Keith Portsmore from 1974 until his recent passing.
Keith was extremely well known in MG circles and was responsible for saving the car, as it was in a terrible state.
The car was being scrapped when it was found abandoned in a car park by Mike Entwistle.
A family friend bought the car off Mike together with a Cresta bodied N-type, as Mike would only sell the cars as a pair - "I already had my own "Allingham", so suggested to Keith that he might like to restore it." The N series Magnettes were built between 1934 and 1936, with 738 chassis listed as being sold in that time.
The very first (chassis NA0251) produced by the factory was sold to H W Allingham, who designed the stylish body, which was then built by Whittingham & Mitchell.
This car was used by W E C Watkinson on the 1934 RAC Rally and registered on 28/08/34.
