Built in 1926, ‘DS 7869’ is a Singer Junior two-seater Tourer that was exported to Australia when it was new.

It arrived there in 1927 and stayed down under for the next 63 years, returning here in 1989.

Its first owner kept it until 2004, going on to sell it to no lesser authority than the Secretary of the Singer Owners Club! Our seller’s father bought it from him in 2009, treating it shortly thereafter to a respray in the correct colours The engine was rebuilt at the same time, and he went on to compete in various VSCC Trials with some success.

Sadly, he passed away recently, and his son is now working his way through his collection of classic cars, a bittersweet process that’s bringing back lots of good memories.

The Singer’s coachwork is as minimal as it is pretty.

As cute as a button and barely any bigger, it nonetheless provides good cockpit space for two.
