Condition

7

The car is described as being in overall solid condition with slight wear visible in paint. There are paint chips on the nose, but this is seen as underscoring that the car is regularly enjoyed. The bodywork has tight panel gaps considering the type of car, and the mechanical aspects are understood to be in fine health due to previous work.

Given the D Type’s remarkable competition success and tiny production tally of just 75 cars, today’s values are truly stratospheric.

An entry point in 2025 probably sits at around £5M.

As a result there has long been a thriving, if niche market for D Type evocations from a handful of specialist companies around the globe.

This superb D Type evocation is thought to hail from the workshops of The Le Mans Sports Car Company of Twickenham.

It was thought to have been brought to life in the early 2000’s and based on a 1962 Triumph Herald donor car.

In its previous ownership it was known to have been comprehensively fettled by Rally Preparation Services (RPS) of Witney, Oxfordshire at a cost of approximately £35,000.

With a Triumph 2-litre, straight six engine (likely from a Herald Vitesse) now fitted the current owner Steve acquired this superb evocation at a Bonhams Cars Online auction in June 2022.

At this point the D Type evocation had covered 39,335 miles.
