AI Listing Summary
This 1973 Volvo P 1800 ES has undergone a near £21,000 two-year restoration, addressing extensive corrosion. Featuring a cream exterior, light blue leather interior, and a converted carburettor system, it presents well but requires some minor finishing touches to reach a concours standard. Located in Durham, it's estimated to fetch between £12,000 - £16,000 at auction.
Condition
6
The car has had extensive bodywork repairs and a respray, indicating that it had significant corrosion issues previously. The interior has been refurbished, but the nearside footwell trim card is missing. Mechanically, the fuel injection system has been changed to a carburettor system. While the vendor states the car is in good working order, it is not concours and requires a few jobs to be in excellent condition.

So, he embarked upon a nearly two-year restoration project that ultimately cost in excess of £21,000 and involved a good deal of heavy lifting.
Fortunately, he had the car inspected by an independent engineer at the beginning and end of the process and we have his narrative of the ‘before and after’ journey the extensive restoration took.
This following is taken from his report.
“The vehicle was found to have many defects to the body structure and the paintwork finish.
The defects were reported to the client which were extensive and mainly due to corrosion issues on numerous floors, chassis, and body panels.
The vehicle has now had extensive bodywork repairs carried ...
