This sublime MGA is indeed one of those 2,000 or so Twin-Cam performance models.

Build records confirm that it is a factory right hand drive, home market model completed on the 19th March 1959.

Only 150 MGA Twin-Cam Coupes were ever built for the right-hand drive home market, making this somewhat of a unicorn car from birth.

The MGA was originally recorded as being “Mineral Blue” which is a darker shade than its current Iris Blue livery.

Our car was specified with “competition (De-luxe) seats” and was first registered in the Dudley area against its current registration number – 33 AFD.

The MGA still bears the same chassis and engine numbers as issued from the factory – YM1/1629 and 16GB-U1020 respectively.

The first few years of the MG’s life are now lost in the mists of time, but the second owner acquired the car in 1963 and it has been in the ownership of the same family ever since.

Current owner, Ian, inherited the MGA from his father and continued to cherish and preserve it ...
