The car was originally built and race-prepared by Nick Smith of Swallow Engineering in Essex, and competed successfully in the FIA Historic Touring Car Championship during the 1990s.

It is believed to be the only Mark 2 Jaguar to have taken an outright win in a round of the FIA Historic Touring Car Championship (Salzburgring).

In the current long-term ownership it has been raced in UK club events.
