AI Listing Summary
This is a rare 1941 BMW 335 Cabriolet, one of only 410-420 ever built, with coachwork by Autenrieth. The car has been under the same ownership since 1963 but requires recommissioning.

Condition
5
The car requires recommissioning before it returns to the road, and it has likely not been restored. There is very little known about its earlier history. These factors suggest that the car has noticeable cosmetic and mechanical wear, which would require moderate reconditioning.

• Ultra-rare top-of-the-range model • One of only some 410-420 built • Present ownership since 1963 • Requires recommissioning "The most luxurious BMW from the pre-war period was the BMW 335, which was the last BMW to go into series production before the war broke out in 1939.
The body was essentially a 326 body extended by 23 cm.
The increased weight required more powerful brakes and wider tyres.
The 3.5 litre inline six-cylinder engine was completely new with a maximum output of 90 hp.
The luxurious interior and the top speed of 145 km/h made the BMW 335 a comfortable yet fast touring car and enabled BMW to enter the segment for luxury cars." - BMW.
The success of the Type 326 and its derivatives prompted BMW to build a larger car to take on the likes of Mercedes-Benz and Horch.
That first upmarket model was the 335.
Three versions were offered: a four-door saloon and two- and four-door cabriolets.
Only some 410-420 had been made up to 1941 when production ceased.
