The Touring Superleggera technique was again used for the body, but this time the panels were pressed by machine rather than hammered by hand.

Under the body, the 2000 remained fairly close to the latest 1900s, with independent front suspension, a rigid rear axle, a five-speed gearbox and drum brakes on all four wheels.

The 2000's twin-cam engine combined elements of the 1900 (cast-iron block and separate cylinder heads) with elements of the new Giulietta (overhead cam tappet and cam-spring valve adjustment system).

The Spider and Sprint versions were fitted with a 115 bhp engine, allowing them to reach a top speed of over 177 km/h.
