The success of the tractor business enabled Lamborghini to diversify into motor manufacturing in 1963; the rest, as they say, is history.

The Lamborghini 2R tractor was one of the company's most successful, some 2,000 units being sold between 1961 and 1967.

The 2R was powered by a three-cylinder direct-injection diesel engine producing 39 horsepower, which drove via a six-speed transmission with two reverse gears, and came equipped with a Bosch fuel system and electrics, the best available at the time.
