"Murcielago" is the name of a famous bull that resisted 24 estocadas - sword thrusts - in 1879 at the bullring in Cordoba.

The matador thus decided to save the bull's life.

Based on the coupé of the same name, the Roadster was presented at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show, following on from the Diablo Roadster.

Its design, the work of Luc Donckerwolke, entrenched the Murcielago in a new era for Lamborghini.
