The first, T10, version was launched at the 1954 Turin Motor Show in panel-van and minibus variants; a host of other body types followed.

The Autotutto is notable as Alfa Romeo's first commercial vehicle built with left-hand drive, all its predecessors being right-hand drive.

Alfa Romeo did not develop a special engine for the front-wheel-drive Autotutto, but instead used a de-tuned version of its classic 1.3-litre twin-cam four, as found in the Giulietta.

A twin-cylinder supercharged two-stroke diesel was available as an option.

Suspension was independent all round, sprung by transverse torsion bars at the rear.
