Non immatriculée dans l'UE (anciennement immatriculée en Italie 63294 MC) Châssis no° 1411519-1914 En 1958 Carlo Abarth modifia un moteur bicylindre de Fiat Nuova 500 et démontra à l'autodrome de Monza que même la plus modeste et la plus abordable « Fiat du pauvre » pouvait se transformer en une berline de compétition à haute performance et à fort potentiel de vitesse.
En septembre 1963, il décida de répéter cette opération aussi amusante que fortement médiatisée en annonçant qu'Abarth & Co, Corso Marche à Turin, allait lancer sa Fiat Abarth 595, la bombe italienne originale « Cinque Cento-plus-plus » qui allait devenir la voiture la plus cool pour un jeune Italien apprenti champion à l'époque.
C'était en fait la contrepartie latine de la Mini-Cooper britannique.
Le moteur à deux cylindres avait été porté de 499, 5 à 595 cm3 par augmentation de l'alésage à 73, 5 mm contre 67, 4 à l'origine, mais en conservant la course originale de 70 mm.
