Châssis n° 020808 Moteur n° 6237 Prenant pour base la très réussie berline 508 Ballila – la première Fiat de l'entre-deux-guerres à recevoir un nom et un numéro – la version compétition 508S Ballila Sport était inspirée d'un dessin original de la carrozzeria Ghia.

Fiat en acquit les droits pour en construire deux versions, la Coppa d'oro (coupe d'or) et la Milla Miglia allégée, nommée après ses succès glanés dans cette course d'endurance exigeante.

Carrossée en élégant cabriolet deux places avec un petit aileron à l'arrière, la Ballila originale recevait une version améliorée du 4 cylindres 995 cm3 à soupapes latérales de la berline.

Il entrainait les roues arrière via une boîte à trois vitesses et était installé dans un châssis à croisillons équipé de freins hydrauliques Lockheed et de roues à rayons.

La deuxième série, dévoilée en 1934, améliorait cette recette à succès en adoptant une boîte à quatre rapports synchronisés et un moteur à soupapes en tête de 46 ch.
