Le plus surprenant des mystères concernant la Kabine Cruiser d'Ernest Heinkel tient au fait que son créateur ait pu produire un modèle aussi semblable à l'Isetta de BMW sans s'attirer d'ennuis.

Dévoilée en 1956, l'Heinkel est mue par un moteur monocylindre à quatre temps de 175 cm3 originellement destiné à un scooter.

Bien que similaire à l'Isetta, elle est à la fois plus habitable et plus légère, offrant même deux places pour des enfants à l'arrière.

Une transmission à quatre rapports donnait une bonne vivacité dans la circulation, tandis qu'un système de porte avant simplifié évitait les complication de la colonne de direction fragmentée de sa rivale.

Des modèles plus puissants (204 et 198 cm3) furent proposés par la suite, ainsi que des versions à quatre roues, des cabriolets et des camionnettes.

Après environs 6 000 exemplaires produits, la construction cessa en Allemagne en 1958, mais se poursuivit dans d'autres pays, notamment en Irlande, où environ 8000 furent construites a...
