AI Listing Summary
This 1958 Austin A35, nicknamed the 'Powerful Peanut,' boasts a rich racing history, including appearances at Goodwood Revival with notable drivers. Extensively raced and developed, it features titanium con rods and comes with a spares package and history file. While 'race ready,' its condition reflects its competitive use, balancing iconic status with potential wear.

Condition
6
Given its extensive racing history, modifications, and use in competitive events, it's unlikely to be in pristine or near-perfect condition. It's described as 'race ready and on the button' implying it's mechanically sound but likely shows signs of wear consistent with racing. Mentions of accident damage (St Mary's 2010) and ongoing development suggest it has been subject to repairs and modifications. The inclusion of a spares package indicates the owner has needed replacement parts which points to normal racing wear and tear. The condition is not explicitly detailed, preventing a high rating.

The 'Powerful Peanut' was the first and most extensively raced of the Austin A35s built by Rae Davis Racing.
It was originally built for the Goodwood Revival in 2001 when it was raced by Rae Davis and touring car legend Steve Soper.
The next Goodwood appearance was with Rae and TV pundit Tony Jardine in 2002, again mixing with the far more powerful Jaguars and the like, thrilling the crowd in true 'David and Goliath' style.
Following the 2002 Revival, the 'Powerful Peanut' changed hands and did so again in 2004 when it was purchased by the current owner.
During his ownership the 'Powerful Peanut' has been raced extensively from Spa (class win) to Chimay, as well as at the Aintree Festival of Motorsport in 2004 and circuits all over the UK.
The owner often shared the drive with Rae Davis, Tony Jardine and Jackie Oliver at various Top Hat, Masters and HRDC events.
In 2006 the car returned to the Goodwood Revival with the owner and Jackie Oliver.
