The car offered here is an example of the Amilcar Model G, produced from 1925 to 1927, which was the French company's most popular touring model.

The Model G's 1,100cc engine was similar to that of the sporting CGS but in a lower state of tune, while at 8' 6" the wheelbase was some 8" longer than the sports car's.

Probably fitted with two-seater drophead coupé coachwork, chassis number '71946' was exported new to Australia where a total restoration and upgrading was carried out in the late 1980s.

Constructed of aluminium panels on a timber frame, the three-seat, 'cloverleaf' torpedo bodywork, reminiscent of the contemporary racing Delage, has been executed by Richard Stanley to a very high standard, while the seats are upholstered in the finest Howe Australian leather with matching tan carpets and trim.

The black paintwork is Glazurit two-pack, which has stood the test of time very well and still looks superb.
