The influence of World War II on automobiles was no more apparent than on the 1950-51 Studebaker.

With a front end resembling the nose of an airplane, it was a worthy facelift to the 1947-48 series that was “First by far with a post-war car!” The Land Cruiser, with a wheelbase at 119 inches (four inches longer than the Champion and Commander), was at the top of Studebaker’s roster.

Additionally, for 1951, a new 232.6-cid V-8 with 120 horsepower replaced Studebaker’s larger six, which was bigger yet less powerful than the V-8.

It was a worthy partner to Studebaker’s Automatic Drive transmission, which was introduced earlier in mid-1950.

This 1951 Land Cruiser was restored by Only Yesterday Classic Autos of San Diego.

Part of a prominent Texas collection since 2007, it includes accessories like a sunshade plus accompanying traffic signal viewer, rain shades, and rear window Venetian blinds.
