of Chicago, Illinois, marketed the Sears High Wheeler from 1905 to 1910 by mail order making a direct appeal to the economy minded new motorist.
They produced a range of models, all very similar and based around a simple, lightweight, horizontally-opposed, twin cylinder, air-cooled engine.
Final drive was by friction disc and chain to the rear wheels.
Their aggressive marketing promoted the High Wheeler in the following terms:- "At the price of the average good driving team and top buggy we are offering the 14 horse power Sears".
They offered two-seater and four-seater models, selling them on ten days trial and found favour in rural districts where the high wheels were claimed to straddle the high road centres.
They were best accepted in traditional rural areas, as the change from the horse-drawn buggy to the Sears would not be considered too radical.
