Introduced in 1973 and perhaps best known for its unusual three-abreast seating, the Bagheera was the product of co-operation between French aerospace company Matra and Chrysler-owned Simca.

Of advanced design, the mid-engined Bagheera featured an all-independently-suspended spaceframe chassis, all-round disc brakes and attractive glassfibre bodywork.

The transversely mounted engine/transmission package was sourced from the Simca 1100.

Of 1.3 litres at first, the engine could be had in 1.4-litre form from 1975 and with the latter unit installed the Bagheera was good for around 110mph.

Production ceased in 1980 on the introduction of the Murena.

This example of a handsome French sports car rarely seen in the UK has the 1.4-litre engine and is finished in white with green/grey-chequered upholstery and green leather-trimmed dashboard.
